How to Plan a College Graduation Party

College graduations are similar to high school, but still much different. Here, you’re focusing on even more accomplishments for the graduates, especially if they’re entering into the workforce or heading on to graduate school. I know quite a few young adults who will be receiving their college diplomas soon, so I’ll definitely be heading to some graduation parties in the near future! Planning a graduation party for your own college grad? Follow my guide to make the day as fun and stress-free as possible!

Planning a college graduation party can be time-consuming, so you’ll want to choose foods that are as low-key as possible. Almost everyone loves finger foods like pigs in a blanket, mini cheese rolls or dippable foods, like veggies, chips and more, so they’ll be great menu staples to have. For more sustenance, you could offer mini burgers or grilled cheese sandwiches.

Having a big crowd‚ but don’t have the time to cook for so many people? Consider hiring a caterer. It’ll make your party planning and clean up time that much easier! Just throw down a gorgeous rental table linen down for a personalized touch.

Since many of the guests for the college graduation party will be over 21, you can serve some delicious craft beers or specialty cocktails. To really get into the spirit of the day, coordinate your drinks to the color of the graduate’s school! For those that aren’t of age, have bottles and cans of party stand-bys‚ water, sodas and iced tea‚ available to quench their thirst.

Table Linen and Decor

During college, everyone’s school spirit really comes through. As you’re planning the decor and picking out the rental table linen for your event, consider the colors of the graduate’s university.

If the school uses multiple colors, you can use one color for your base table linen and another for the table runner. Your guests will love this sweet gesture because although your graduate may be leaving the school, that doesn’t mean he or she can’t carry on their university pride!
