How to Place an Overlay on a Hi-Boy Table & Tie a Bow

Want some variety at your event? Looking to create a beautiful party using hi-boy tables? You are in the right place! In this video, you are going to learn how to use an overlay and tie it off with a bow. Overlays are the perfect way to add color, dimension and theme. This might look a complicated task only Martha Stewart can do, but you will be amazed at how you can create stunning looking hi-boys that will wow your guests and clients! This look is easy and so fantastic. Watch as we customize the pedestal hi-boy table.

Considerations for Hi-Boy Tables

Before you get started decorating your hi-boy, you may want some background information. A seated table is 30 inches high, while a high boy is 42 inches high. The diameters of hi-boy tables can be 24, 30 or 36 inches high. For 30 inches or less, you can center the cloth on the hi-boy. When the diameter is more than 30 inches, you will have to offset the center of the linen ‚ toward the back of the table. That way, you have extra linen at the bottom to cover the legs.

What You Will Need

  • Hi-boy table
  • Chair tie
  • Rental able linen

Get the Look

Step 1: Lay the 132-inch round tablecloth on the highboy.

Step 2: Fold the chair tie in half lengthwise and tie the cloth.

Step 3: Pull the ends tight and tie a bow.

Step 4: Make sure to fluff the bows up.

Step 5: If you have multiple hi-boys throughout your venue, make sure the ties are placed at the same spot to create a consistent, cohesive look.
