How to Incorporate Chargers into Your Table Design

Charger plates have an excellent and inviting look with food on top As you’re planning an event, you probably think you have everything you need for a gorgeous tablescape. You’ve selected your rental table linen, picked out your centerpieces and decided on your other table decorations. You may be forgetting one thing, though: charger plates! Charger plates really bring basic table designs to life, no matter what type of table linen you choose. If you want to use charger plates for your event, I’ve got you covered. Just follow the four steps I’ve outlined!

1) Match Your Silverware to Your Chargers

Based on your chargers choose silverware that complements the design of the platesSilverware is such a small part of your table design, but a little extra attention really goes a long way! You don’t have to splurge on your forks and knives, but you can coordinate whatever you choose to your charger plates and overall color scheme. If you’re using deep jewel tones, like forest green or violet, gold silverware shines. Silver, on the other hand, looks good for pastel table designs.

2) Use an Abundance of Florals

Nothing complements gorgeous charger plates and an overall table design quite like florals—and lots of them! Peonies, roses and hydrangeas are all popular picks for centerpiece designs. To create an even more cohesive table design, match your florals’ vases to your charger plates.

3) Include Fun Table Accessories

Table decoration can be fun with candles and vases includedAs you’re planning your tablescape, remember to add in accessories and decorations! Your tables allow you the opportunity to let your personality really shine through, so choose pieces that match your color scheme—including your charger plates—as well as your design aesthetic. Candles are a great staple for table accessories. Nameplates and table numbers are also excellent additions to your table design.

4) Add a Menu

On top of your dinner and dessert plates, place a menu that briefly outlines what you are serving at your reception. Include any salads or appetizers and entree options, as well as desserts. You can match the menu colors to your charger plates or rental table linen, or you can opt with simple neutrals—either will look chic!
