How to Host a Stellar Charity Event

To me, there’s nothing better than giving back to others. Feel the same way? Consider hosting an event to raise money for your charity of choice. Perhaps that’s a local youth group that needs help fundraising for a particular event or cause. Follow my guide for picking a charity group, choosing your type of fundraiser, designing your tablescape and more!

Establish the Theme for Your Fundraiser

When it comes to charity events, you have an almost endless amount of possibilities from which you can choose for raising funds. Here are some of the favorites I’ve seen throughout my time as an event planner:

  • Gala dinner—Host an elegant gala dinner complete with delicious food, luxurious rental table linen and live entertainment.
  • Silent auction—Contact local businesses asking for donations and auction them off to collect money for your cause. Whether they donate their products or time, they’ll make a great addition to your silent auction selection.
  • Concerts—Benefit concerts are growing in popularity, and for good reason! People love live music, and bands and artists love to give back with their talents. Contact local acts to see if they’d be interested in joining your benefit concert lineup. No matter if they are big or small names, people will love this charity idea.

Design a Stylish Tablescape

The main focus of your event will, of course, be your chosen charity. Still, you’ll want the decor of your space to be ultra stylish and chic. For a gala dinner, you can use light blue rental table linen paired with bright yellow floral centerpieces. A silent auction could have neutral table linen and runners to let the auction items shine, and a benefit concert could have bright colors like fuchsia or radiant orchid.

Invite Guests From Your Charity

As you plan your charity event, remember what the day is really all about: helping out the charity of your choice. And what better to show your chosen charity how much you care than by actually inviting them to the event?! This will show them all the hard work you put in to help their cause. Make your guests of honor feel extra special by giving a speech dedicated to them, and present them with a special gift. No matter how big your contribution to is, they’ll be grateful beyond words.
