Host a Fun Oktoberfest Celebration

Oktoberfest has been underway since September, and the upcoming weekend marks the final hurrah for this holiday! To celebrate all things German, you can host a fun Oktoberfest party for your close family and friends. Follow my guide for ideas on food, drink, rental table linen and decor for your Oktoberfest celebration.

An Oktoberfest party is all about having a good time and relaxing, so you don’t need to worry about planning a five-course dinner for this event! In fact, you can simply make a few appetizers and dishes and serve them buffet style for a simplified meal. For your Oktoberfest buffet, offer the classics, like beer cheese dip, cheese spread, soft pretzel bites with spicy beer mustard, German potato salad, sauerkraut balls and bratwurst. For dessert, serve up delicious apple strudel or chocolate and toffee dip. Spread all your dishes out on a long table covered in an orange rental table linen for a stunning display. I love the Burnt Orange Bengaline or Mandarin Miramar fabrics!

Beer will, of course, dominate the drink menu for your Oktoberfest party! You can serve up local craft beers or other favorites, like pumpkin beer. If you really want to get into the theme of the day, consider turning a pumpkin into a keg. It’ll take a little extra work on your end, but it’s a fun idea that your guests will love! If you have guests who are underage or prefer not to drink alcohol, make sure to have non-alcoholic beer options, as well as carafes of water or iced tea.

Rental Table Linen and Decor

Because an Oktoberfest parties are casual events, your rental table linen can be, too. For these events, I’m envisioning rental table cloths in earthy colors, like dark brown or tan, accented with a bold orange table runner, like the Orange Lamour. Your table accessories can be just as relaxed here, too. Think charger plates in darker shades, like the Braid Gold Brown or Eternity Brown Gold matched with Burnt Orange Bengaline napkins. As for your decor, you can hang up vintage Oktoberfest signs or banners to round out the fun atmosphere of your party.
