Give Back at Your Wedding

Weddings are all about love. Even though weddings are also all about delicious food, beautiful table linen and fun, at the root, they’re about the love you share with your partner. I’ve always thought weddings were about not only celebrating the love you have for one another, but the love you have—and receive—from those around you. If you’re a soon-to-be bride and have the same thought process that I do, you probably have already started brainstorming some ideas of how you can show your wedding goers just how much you care about them. Here are some of my favorite sweet gestures I’ve seen brides do for their guests. See if they can work for you!

Personalized Gifts

Your guests came to your wedding because they care about you two; they want to celebrate you two as a couple, not themselves. And while they probably don’t expect any kind of gift in return, it would be nice to show them your gratitude with something you think they will enjoy. To combine the best of both worlds, you can craft a wedding favor that is practical for your guests and represents your partnership.

Are you two major coffee drinkers? Fill mini burlap bags with ground coffee beans and attach a note saying, “Our love is brewing.” If one of you has a major sweet tooth, set up a candy bar on a sweet cotton candy pink linen rental, and spread out take-home boxes so your guests can pick their favorite goodies. Want to let your DIY side show? Create multiple centerpieces to accent your table linen, and ask your guests to take them home; it’ll be something they can enjoy for years to come.

Send a Note

After the champagne has run out, you’ve taken down the linen rental and the wedding day is done, you’ll need to send out thank you notes to your guests. Thank-you note writing can often be time consuming and you may be tempted to write a quick note of gratitude, but now’s your chance to show your guests your appreciation. Go into detail about how much a particular guest has meant to you (and you two as a couple) over the years. It might take you a few extra hours to write the notes, but your gratefulness will really shine through.
