Get Fiesta-ive with a Cinco de Mayo Party

¡Hola! Now that May is here, I’m ready to ring in one of my favorite holidays—Cinco de Mayo! This holiday is all about celebrating Mexican American pride, so I love to throw a party every year in honor of this special day. Thinking of hosting your own fiesta? Check out my guide to see if they could work for your own Cinco de Mayo celebration!

Food and Drink

I look forward to Cinco de Mayo every year for many reasons, but I must admit, the delicious food is definitely one of them! After all, there are so many meal options for this. For my party this year, I’m going to have a taco bar with all the fixings—lettuce, cheese, sour cream and more—all spread out on a shiny red rental table linen. I’m also going to add in some other Mexican food favorites, like chips and salsa, guacamole, and tamales, too, for a complete menu. For dessert, I’m going to let my creative side shine by making sombrero cookies. I’m also going to make margarita or chocolate tamale cupcakes. They’re unusual, yet completely appetizing—and a crowd pleaser!

Cinco de mayo party decorations

Of course, I can’t forget about the drinks! For my Cinco de Mayo celebration, I have plenty of alcoholic and nonalcoholic options from which to choose. For the alcoholic drinks, one really shines above them all: the margarita. I’m going to have a margarita bar spread out on a fun rental tablecloth linen. I’m also going to have non-alcoholic drinks available, too, like horchata and iced hot chocolate.

Table Linen and Decorations

Since this day is about celebrating food and fun with friends, I’m going to make my decorations a little more relaxed. For my party, I’m going to stick with a simple bright green rental table linen. Still, it wouldn’t be a true fiesta without a little pizzazz! Here, I’m going to use hanging lanterns and flags in bright yellow, green, blue and red. I’m also going to use maracas tucked into my folded rental linen napkins. It’s a small decor idea, but it’s just enough to create a great party atmosphere for my guests—and having them shaking the night away.
