A “BBJ Linen Style” Wedding

Walking a new path rather than following tradition can be what makes a wedding celebration perfect.

That was the case here: Little was traditional about this wedding party in a rustic Austin, Texas venue. The effect, however, is memorable. Every detail reflects the wishes of the bride and groom.

Doing It Their Way

Choosing to marry in a small private church ceremony the day before, the couple made an effort to host their primarily out-of-town wedding guests at a round of smaller events throughout their wedding weekend. Planning kept it personal and informal.

A lavish dinner dance, termed a party rather than a reception, was designed for fun. The warm and welcoming atmosphere scored on all points!

Not the expected color combination, but these jewel tones are gorgeous in the timber-ceilinged hall. Autumn was in the air for this November event, and the color scheme played it up with high drama.

First Impressions Count

The focal point as guests entered the impressive venue was the room-length family table, with its glittering array of vibrant floral colors and candlelight. No linen covered the long wood table, but it looks perfectly gorgeous with the punctuation of merlot napkins.

Changing Emphasis

The round tables on either side reverse color directions, with merlot floor-length drapes and golden linen napkins picking up the glow of wall sconces, glittering oversized chandelier and flickering candlelight.

‘Please Yourselves’

This bride followed her own (very good) advice when planning the details. Foregoing the white gown, both for the ceremony and for the reception, she focused on making memories for herself and her groom. She also abandoned a traditional wedding cake in favor of a variety of bite-size treats, displayed on natural round cut from tree trunks.

Focus on Details

The typically Texas stone walls and intricate beamed ceiling were warmed immeasurably with the emphasis on color and simplicity. Cheese, bread and fruit were displayed on polished boards and enlivened by lavish floral displays.

Energized by Lavish Color

It might take awhile to drink it all in, but the depth of color and attention to detail distinguish every aspect of this well-thought-out scheme. Even the mercury glass votive holders glow with warmth and create a welcoming environment.

An Evening to Remember

The couple picked a great DJ, but chose to just say no to a first dance, opting instead for a “last dance” before departing through an aisle of sparklers and good wishes. They note that, as during any wedding planning process, they faced some challenges, but they look back on their weekend celebration as a perfect expression of their love and their wishes.

It just proves, we think, that there is a lot to be said for doing it your way.
