4 Engagement Party Tips for a Day That Will Wow Your Guests

So you just got engaged—congrats! Now, it’s time to celebrate. Engagement parties have become all the rage with brides-to-be. In fact, I’ve seen more and more brides hosting engagement parties in honor of their upcoming nuptials. This event is more than a rehearsal dinner, yet it’s still being more relaxed than the actual wedding. Want to host your own? Follow my guide of tips for throwing a truly spectacular engagement party!

1) Decide On your Guest List

Engagement parties can mean different things to brides. Some want them to be slightly smaller versions of their weddings, while others prefer to invite only a few close friends and family. As you plan your engagement party, consider how many guests with whom you and your partner want to celebrate. Remember—the size of this party doesn’t have to determine how many people will be on your wedding guest list!

2) Use Table Linen to Create a Magical Atmosphere

Engagement parties are about having fun and just enjoying what’s to come for your special day. Even though the event is more relaxed, you can still make it gorgeous with the addition of a few rental table linens! Lavender is my absolute favorite color for summer weddings. I love how a patterned table cloth, like the Zuri print, looks paired with elegant cream chair ties and deep purple chargers. Each piece ties together to create an easy yet glamorous tablescape!

3) Choose a Fuss-Free Menu

Like I’ve said, engagement parties are supposed to be relaxed—you can pull out all the stops for your big day instead! To coincide with the event theme, serve up a menu of simple dishes like caprese salad, BBQ grilled chicken and whipped potatoes. You could even try a food truck for a fun twist! For drinks, offer favorites like craft beers, champagne and, for the underage crowd, strawberry lemonade.

4) Have a Dessert Bar

Now that you have the meal for your engagement party down, you may be trying to think of what dessert option will work best for your day. Still, why have one dessert when you can have a lot of them?! A dessert bar will be exactly what your guests want. Spread out on a fresh linen tablecloth or runner, fill your dessert table with favorites like cupcakes with vanilla and chocolate icing, white chocolate chip cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, and more.
