It’s been 2014 for a few days now, and I’m already scoping out what I expect to see at all the great weddings this year. It’s tough, though, because how can this year top all the great things I saw in 2013? Luckily, I’ve come up with some of the things wedding-goers will most likely see at the best celebrations this year.
1) Pink is back
Radiant orchid may be this year’s official color, but that doesn’t mean blush pink won’t give it a run for its money. Yes, this soft shade of pink is here to stay for 2014 weddings, so why not embrace it? After all, a blush pink invokes the most romantic side in all of us, which is perfect for getting your guests in the lovey-dovey mood you’re already feeling.
2) Go glitzy with wedding table accents
Neutrals will never go out of style, but subtlety is a thing of the past when it comes to wedding table accent colors. In 2014, all that glitters is gold. Pair white tablecloths with a golden table overlay, or take it one step further and add a table overlay with stunning sequins. Either way, your wedding table will stand out (or, should I say, shine?) from all the rest.
3) Think outside the box
When it comes to wedding cakes, you don’t always have to be square. Cakes come in all shapes and sizes, and this year, try breaking free of the boxy tradition. A simple one-layer circular cake with smooth icing looks timeless, but a cake with intricate raised icing is just as appealing to the eye (and stomach!), too.
4) Simple yet sleek
In the past, brides have been drawn toward elaborate, over-the-top (yet still gorgeous) dresses, but this year, it’s all about less being more. Brides dressed in clean cuts with no frills are who will really catch some eyes this year. Whether they’re in V-cut or strapless dresses, I’m expecting to see a lot more flare-free designs.
5) Throwing a twist on classic entertainment
Sure, weddings themselves are fun, but I always look forward to the great time I’m going to have at the reception, too. You may not be able to tear me away from the dance floor sometimes, but I do love to indulge in some of the fun setups a happy couple planned. This year, look for reinventions of old wedding rental entertainment standbys. While photo booths are a classic way to remember the night, I’m expecting to see it taken to the next level with fish eye cameras and even video. Of course, whatever guests end up doing, make sure they document whatever wedding rental entertainment option you choose with a customized hashtag. It’s the #perfect way to relive their memories of your special day after it is all said and done.
