15 Tablescapes that Brazenly Celebrate Bold Color

Our world is gloriously and brilliantly filled with color — in nature, in art, in experiences — both literally and figuratively. Why shouldn’t your next special event be just as colorful?

We think colorful expressions are a fresh and natural way to go this spring. Here are a few examples:

Purple and White

As fresh as a blooming flower garden and as energetic as a pep rally, there’s no mistaking the good times that will be had at this event. Imagine the smiles and lively chatter! Here it’s not only the color and pattern, but the deft use of vintage napkins, along with formal gold-rimmed china and crystal. How memorable!

Color doesn’t have to “shout.” Sometimes subtle and unexpected combinations lift table settings from ordinary to inspired! Soft violet napkins are a perfect partner to the undulating pattern of this table linen. A slightly darker hue matches glassware to table cards, and the petite bouquets reflect the formal tone of the table.

Take inspiration from the china, and mass flowers in bright tones at the center of each table. Linen in a rosy tone, with traditional white napkins, signals a bit of tradition with a lighthearted twist.

Classically Exotic

The unexpectedly vibrant orchids decorating the center of the table transport guests to a unique experience in a totally comfortable lounge-like setting. The single graphic linen pattern is used in both in positive and negative versions for cloth and napkins. Colors and textures are perfectly balanced.

One Bright Touch

5.pngHello Darling | City View

Just a splash of citrus adds wonderfully fresh flavor to what is essentially a gold-tinged formal monochromatic table setting. Don’t you just love those lime napkins? We love the soft colorful tones the gorgeous centerpiece brings to this tablescape!

Darkly Elegant

6.pngRevel Décor | Bridgeport Art Center

A stunning twilight scheme calls upon swirling pattern and a range of hues — from dusk to deeper blue and on toward the violet and inky purples of midnight. Gold in chargers and candle holders are the accents here, with striking pattern, sparkling crystal and shining linen glowing like starlight.

A Textured Treat

This table setting relies on texture for its effect. Sequined table linen is complemented with rougher, homespun napkins. Scattered petals and the artful look of hand painted menus and name cards play against a profusion of blooms and formal china patterns. It’s all charmingly unusual.

Glowing Formality

A little color can go a long way. Here, golden table linen highlighted by just an occasional addition of an orange-gold flower in the centerpiece sparks a WOW, proving that simplicity can be immensely satisfying.

Earthy Enchantment

There’s a richness associated with earth tones — greens, dappled golds, browns and peaches and purples of seasonal flowers — it’s satisfying because it’s so familiar. This tablescape is a bold departure from most spring themes, but it’s sensational!

Layer It On

It can be said that elegance, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. What could be more elegant than this setting? It relies on layer upon layer of simple items; a rustic texture atop a snakeskin-like linen. Golden glassware, flatware and napkins, and simple brown paper place cards contrast with embellished chargers and gold-patterned china. A touch of green ties it all together.

A Playful Profusion

A table setting full of crayon brights is tamed slightly with a bit of black, but even the chargers sport sassy stripes. What could be more fun than a luncheon at this lively table? Fuschia napkins add punch, but a pure white cloth provides a clean canvas for the colors to shine.

Paintbox Color Meets Sparkle

12.pngLOLA Event Productions | Studio Starling | Cornelia McNamara Flowers

In this land of contrast, nothing seems out of place, even though the gold linen runner and the funky chandelier might seem overly “dressed” for a bare wood table. But it’s all about fun — from the balloon and floral colors to the make-up mirrors at each setting. Ingenuity rules!

Fashion Forward

13.pngStudio Starling

Mirrors, gold, jewelry, fashion, fun and bright plum — it’s all here and it all works together beautifully to set the scene for an intensely satisfying “girly” setting, punctuated by swirling gold-patterned table linen and lipstick-bold napkins. No shrinking violets allowed!

A New Beacon

The blue and white stripes speak “nautical,” but this is an uncommon pairing of seafaring tradition and modern fun! Pink napkins reinforce varied floral hues, but lend an unexpected air; modern china and glassware add dramatic interest.

Bold and Modern

Orange and white and graphic pattern. Yes! Add in a bit of mint green and stir in pure white in contemporary shapes. Like modern sculpture, a single white bloom in a slightly different tone green vase represents a bold departure from the norm.

We think you’ll agree that color is the trend for this spring — maybe for the rest of the year!
